The National History Museum of Albania in Tirana houses the archeological and artistic history and treasures of Albania. It is the most prestigious institute in Albania. Its pavilions cover the history from pre-historic times to Albania today and includes a collection of Mother Teresa.
Gjergj Kola, the well known Albanian born artist now living an expatriate life on the Marche coast of Italy, has been invited by the museum to exhibit a selection of his works. Gjergj chose the title “My Diary” to tell the story of his life’s work. Gjergj has a rich heritage with his homeland, painting nature and images from Albanian legends as well as expressionist portraits of people of Albania, and emotive scenes from life of the Whirling Dervishes. His paintings of Mother Teresa are particularly enthralling arising from the colours and bold brushwork of his expressionist portrait style.
The exhibition opens on 10 September 2015 with formal opening at 7 pm.
