The Leonessa plateau potato is particularly valuable and tasty. In the thirties, the most common variety was the 'Berlin Round', but now the 'Desiree' with red skin and yellow flesh, the 'Agria' with white skin and yellow flesh and 'Marfona' white smooth skin and yellow flesh, are preferred. The potato mainly used for the preparation of dumplings and sweet potato donuts. For the fries the variety in particularly used has thick red skin that makes it crisp and golden after cooking. The second Sunday of October is celebrated with a potato festival.
