This festival is the oldest religious festival in the country and dates back to the fourteenth century. The cult of St. Michael comes from other pre-Christian mythology, gods such as Hermes - Mercury, who had a similar role to defend the souls from the assaults of the evil and guide in the afterlife. The festival is held twice a year, in May and September during the most important periods for the cultivation of fields. The procession starts from the main church of Saint Michael Archangel and travels to the Temple of St. Michael with an outdoor ceremony. During the procession the heavy carriage of St. Michael and a large painting dedicated to the saint are carried on the shoulders by the members of the brotherhoods.
