Pozzo d’Antullo

Energitismo Insight

The Pozzo d’Antullo is a large karst pit, with a maximum depth of 80 m and with a circumference of 300 m, caused by the collapse of the extensive vault of a huge cave linked to the karst geology in the area. It is a singular unusual natural rarity, unique in Europe for its size. The bottom of the pit is covered by vegetation and shows some curious curved stalactites, probably generated by the wind coming from the side tunnels, amending the deposition of calcium carbonate crystals. It is probably connected with the other caves through a system of underground passages.
