  • Loreto Bridge on Via Astura

Energitismo Insight

Lanuvio was crossed by the Via Astura that in the eighth century BC connected Rome to Anzio. It was a road of intense traffic also used by Cicero to go to his villa on the coast. Along the way there is the ancient Ponte Loreto, dating from between the second and first centuries BC, which is a single curved arch bridge. The parapet is made up of large trapezoidal parallelepipeds, thinning on the sides, giving the bridge the typical humpback shape.
