Energitismo Insight

The Gate of the Sun is a seventeenth-century gate in the city walls built in 1642 at the behest of the Barberini family, and later modified in the early eighteenth century into its present form. It has an embattled cornice and a rich portal flanked by pairs of Doric columns supporting a split drum. At the heart of the portal is the symbol of the sun surmounted by the crest of the Barberini, from which the bees were removed in 1798.
