In Rivodutri there is a colossal beech tree called "Saint Francis Beech". Tradition has it that the saint took shelter under this beech during heavy rain, and that this tree bowed its branches to protect San Francesco. The church dates back to 2000 and was built by adapting eighteenth century ruins used by shepherds, the "Cerchiari of Casetta". It commemorates the passing of the millennium and that of San Francisco and within it were placed 14 coloured ceramic tiles, made by Franco Bellardi and inspired by the Canticle of the Creatures.
