Every first Sunday after San Marco (April 25) in Gerano the oldest in Italy Flower Festival takes place. It is probably related to the painting of Maria Santissima del Cuore (1727 Sebastiano Conca from Gaeta), arrived in the town in 1729 and was considered the source of miracles. To commemorate, he streets are filled with paintings made with flower petals produced by all the inhabitants. The Infiorata Geranese origin is dated from the years 1743 to 1760, according to the documents of the brotherhoods, but the Feast of Our Lady came earlier. In Rome the infiorate were started in 1625 in honour in St. Peter and Paul. In 1789, the Geranesi were encouraged to set up an infiorata in Subiaco in homage to Pope Pius VI.
