The church is set among other buildings. It is a simple rectangular building with two side altars. The history of the name is very interesting and dates back to 1659 when some boys were playing ball. One legend has it that, with the ball, the boys brought down some plaster hiding a fresco of the Virgin and Child. Another legend says that the Virgin Mary saved the boys playing ball as they would have fallen into a ravine. The church was enlarged and restored in 1755 by Theodoli family. The portrait of the Virgin and Child is still greatly worshipped.
