The Church of St. Sebastian, patron of Forano, dates back to 1390 and has had a renovation in 1710. Inside there are beautiful frescoes. Sebastian was a native of southern Gaul who became part of the Roman imperial army and was appointed tribune of the praetorian cohort. During the persecutions of Diocletian he refused to renounce his faith in Christ and for this he was condemned to be pierced by the arrows of fellow soldiers. Miraculously he escaped death, he was treated by a pious woman and returned to defy the emperor who had him taken into chains to the racecourse of Palatino and flogged to death.
