Energitismo Insight

The reserve cuts across the municipalities of Avola, Noto and Syracuse, and was set up in 1990 with the aim of preserving the diverse natural richness, landscapes and archeology of its territory. This area, in fact, had been inhabited over the past 3 millennia and there is considerable evidence in tombs and artifacts. The reserve covers 2700 hectares in the valley and includes a system of small waterfalls and ponds (locally called ‘uruvi’) which are accessed through a picturesque staircase known as La Scala Cruci.
