The neoclassical Cathedral was built between 1641 and 1725. The facade is brick and the interior, with three naves, contains fine works of art, including an enthroned Madonna with child, a St. Joseph, Baptism of Christ and a processional cross of the 1500s that is a masterpiece of goldsmithing. It is said that a cross belonging to the Basilica of St. John Lateran. Stolen during the Sack of Rome with other works of art it was found in Poggio Mirteto and the works were returned to the Basilica. To reward the priests of Poggio Mirteto, they were given this their cross.
