The palace was built on the structure of the medieval castle and now houses apartments and rooms. The palace is impressive, set on a cliff overlooking the valley. The walls have loopholes and end with Ghibelline battlements. It is accessed by a wide staircase that goes via the old guard post with a tower, which was the main entrance to the castle. The turret had a civic bell, replaced in the fifteenth century by a large communal clock still in operation today. Then, through a small square with a fountain of pure water, you finally get to the door leading to the inner courtyard of the castle.
