The Bellegra area is affected by karst geological phenomena such as a depression in the Pantano valley where until 1911 there was a lake, that then was drained for agricultural purposes. From this small basin and its underground outlet were found "the Arch Caves" almost a kilometer long. They are so called because their entrance is a natural stone arch. The caves are striking for the wealth of stalactites, stalagmites, sinkholes, and caverns for observing the typical fauna of these underground environments.
