Technical and humanities studies have fused in the choice by Mirko to become a goldsmith and continue the great traditions of Sicily. Mirko is a craftsman with a degree in history and a dream of having a workshop full of tools, alongside a library, just like one of the great cultured craftsmen of the Renaissance.
Meanwhile he experiments with new creations, as well as with new techniques to reread the past without nostalgia but with the sense to build the future together.
Just south of Palermo on the slopes of Monte Capito is the most famous Norman cathedral in Italy, with a wonderful byzantine mosaic cycle around the interior. This famous cathedral, built by the second William, is the main draw card for tourists to come down from the city to visit Monreale.
The valley below the town is called "La Conca d'oro" and while, in the early Norman period it may have been a hunting ground for royalty, its world fame is now for its fruit bearing, almonds, oranges and, of course, olives.
