This imposing cistern was built by the emperor Septimius Severus to supply water to the camp of the Second Parthian Legion stationed at Albano. The building is divided longitudinally into 5 naves supported by 36 pillars arranged in 4 parallel rows. The surface area is 1,440 square meters. with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters of water. After almost 2000 years the cisterns are still fully functional and the water collected is used for the irrigation of gardens and for civil protection purposes.
