The church was built in the eighteenth century, designed by Pompeo Schiantarelli, on a previous hermitage dedicated to San Michele dating from the eleventh century. The façade is in classical Renaissance style and the church has a majestic dome. On the main altar hangs a painting depicting the Archangel who, with a drawn sword, threatening the demon executed by German painter Hardtmuth and faithful copy of San Michele Arcangelo built by Guido Reni in 1635 (preserved in the church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Rome). In the church there is the "carriage" of Saint Michael Archangel, dating from the nineteenth century, every year in the two festivities of May and September is carried in procession by the Confraternity of the SS. Sacrament.
