A little 'history, a little' music and a bit of embroidery. Palestrina (ancient Praenestre) is famous for its temple of Fortuna, being the birthplace of Pierluigi da Palestrina, who codified music and in addition it gives its name to a famous type of point embroidery. Fortuna was a goddess with dual personality, but always positive (otherwise one must talk about Sors, fate or destiny); an enterprising side, which helped businesses do well, and an erotic (for which it remains to be said, to be blessed with good fortune). The temple lies in a series of hillocks on the hill and it was rediscovered when the bombing during World War II destroyed the houses that had been built over it. On the "terrace of semicircles", is found the spring where they came to learn about omens. They would lower a child inside the well, who received the responses, and handed the tablets to those who had asked the questions and who had provided a worthy contribution. Apparently, Andrea Palladio studied the temple from which he drew inspiration for his beautiful villas. Palestrina is the birthplace of five popes, an interesting omen. Its hamlet of Carchitti is famous throughout Italy for strawberry cultivation.
