
The name Treviso either comes from the Celtic "Tarvos" or arose from the distant Illyrian. What is certain is that its history has been characterized by changes of power for long times. These reversals have led to a magnificent old town of churches and palaces.
If in the 1200s it became known for its "joyful and loving brand", the military turbulence so distressed the population that, in 1389, they took the historic decision to ally themselves to Venice. Since then, the two cities have shared joys and sorrows, and jointly contributed to the beauty of this part of Italy.
