Santi Cosma e Damiano, in the province of Latina, is on three levels that correspond to three different historical periods. At the top is the windy old town "ventosa" with a medieval tower overlooking all the mountains and the sea of the Gulf of Gaeta. On the mountain slopes is the historic center with the Church of Santi Cosma and Damiano and the city that was largely destroyed during World War II. Finally there is the village in a valley, close to the main communication lines towards the sea. The romantic area of the Old Town, nestled in a valley and protected from the north winds, is characterized by orange and lemon trees and from there one enters directly into the paths that wind through the olive groves with the traditional dry stone walls that maintain the cultivated terraces.
