Civita di Bagnoregio is the old village of Bagnoregio accessible only through a pedestrian bridge built in 1965. Like many towns in the area, it is located on a 'volcanic tufa island' that floats on a sea of clay. Only that the tufa splits apart and the center had been abandoned. The center is one of the most evocative of Italy.
